The gimp has a built in way to make round edges when selecting a rectangle.  Simply check the "Rounded Corners" option and you're set. Yesterday I was trying to get my Ubuntu laptop to connect to my Mac OS X desktop.  Accessing a networked OS X computer as a windows share is pretty easy under Ubuntu.  But you can only see a few files. I went to test a website on Browsershots the other day and discovered that it didn't work in IE 7 or 8.  So much for compliance.
